I wrote a story yesterday about Greeley possibly banning the E-Cig trade. Turns out that's not quite the case so I wanted to clarify a few things today.

First, let me start by mentioning that the City of Greeley HAS NOT banned the E-Cig trade in Greeley as that vote has not happened yet, as mentioned in my previous story, that decision will come on January 6.

I was also made aware of the fact that the owner of Smokeless CG Vapors is not under any threat of being shut down because if the ban does go through, it only affects businesses who won't allow Vapor products to be used in their stores,

Greeley is ONLY looking to include “Electronic Smoking Devices” (ESD) under the definition of “tobacco product” in Greeley’s current Clean Indoor Air Law. This would ban the use of these products wherever conventional tobacco products are banned including, bars, restaurants, taverns, vape shops, tobacco shops, etc. Greeley will NOT ban the sale of these products.

So I stand corrected on a few points in my original story but this whole "vapor" thing is still so new, no one really knows how safe or unsafe it is. Personally, I still think that if any business wants to allow smoking or vaping, that should be their decision. No different than changing the channel on your T.V. when you don't like a program. If you won't want to patronize a business because they allow smoking, then don't patronize it, but the decision to allow smoking or vaping in a business, of any kind, should be up to the business owner.

Seriously, I have said this many times, if we are so worried about smoking in the first place, why not just make it illegal, period. Tobacco kills more people than just about anything besides alcohol, but society as a whole could care less.

If you would like to be heard on this latest issue concerning E-cigs and where they can and can't be used, please join the Greeley City Council on January 6 to voice your opinion, good or bad.
