Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial Groundbreaking Today

Weld County Deputy Sam Brownlee was killed in the line of duty in November of 2010. Since then his family and friends and the Weld County Sheriff’s Department have been planning a memorial to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty. A public groundbreaking ceremony for the Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial will be at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday, March 1st) at Bittersweet Park, 35th Avenue and 16th Street, Greeley.
According to the Greeley Tribune:
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with fallen deputy Sam Brownlee’s family and Greeley City Councilman Rob Casseday, began work on the memorial in January 2011.
