When Carrie Underwood was only a freshman in high school,  she was the guest performer in the 1998 Miss Westark Pageant at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.  She performed her version of Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing. In the YouTube video above, " The announcer referred to her as a “very special young lady that’s taken this part of the country by storm.”

I still remember the 1st time I ever saw Carrie sing.  It was her audition on American Idol. In 2004, the 21-year-old Miss Underwood won the competition. That is when she "Really" took America by storm.
