I had the chance to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. back when I was 14, and it was a humbling experience.

Now the traveling Vietnam Wall is coming to Fort Collins in May. When and where can you see it?

According to the Veterans Plaza Facebook posts, the wall will be arriving at in town on May 22nd, escorted by the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Club. It will be set up at the Veterans Plaza at Spring Canyon Park that afternoon and remain on display through the afternoon of May 27th (Memorial Day). There will be a a ceremony on Saturday May 25th at noon. ***The Veterans Plaza has updated their Facebook page with a message that the ceremony has been moved to 11:30AM)***

On top of the displays the Veterans Plaza already offers, there will be food, music, a Huey flyover, and a fully-restored Huey Gunship.

The Veterans Plaza in Fort Collins is located at Spring Canyon Community Park on the west end of town. There are paths, rocks, statues, touch screen displays of veteran’s names, shade trees and a stage for celebrating and remembering our country’s service members. It was created as a “beautiful, peaceful and reflective setting that honors all past, present and future U.S. veterans.”

Dedicated to military service to the Nation, any U. S. veteran may be listed at the site. There is no fee for this recognition, only proof of honorable service. To nominate and list a veteran, visit www.veteransplazanoco.org.
