Littleton native Scooter Brown served four years with the Marine Corps, including two tours overseas, before pursuing his passion for music in Texas and Nashville.

Now, he's father of four (the youngest two are adopted) who tours the country performing and advocating for veterans and adoption through his music. He's opened for The Charlie Daniels Band and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Now he's competing in "Real Country," a new USA Network country music competition show that premieres at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. A total of 21 artists chosen by the judges (Shania Twain, Jake Owen and Travis Tritt) are competing for $100,000 and the opportunity to perform at Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Opry.

It's going to be a fast-paced treat: Each week, three artists face off for the chance to win it all at the grand finale. It's not just the prize money; the Grand Ole Opry has long been considered a launching pad for country performers. Some artists dream of performing there for years before they get that honor!

If you watch all eight episodes of "Real Country," you'll also get to see:

  • Billie Jo, a mom of four who has won several local singing competitions in Texas
  • Adairs Run, a duo that pushes gritty rock-and-roll and authentic story-telling
  • The Young Fables, a duo who already has performed with Lauren Alaina, Josh Turner, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and more.
  • Copper Chief, a central Texas band of three who ditched their jobs and already have released a self-titled debut album and performed across Texas and its neighboring states

It'll be fun to see how Scooter Brown fares against the other competitors on "Real Country" and if the other two judges are as impressed with him as Travis Tritt was. You can follow him on social media: Twitter: @ScooterBrownBND/Instagram: @ScooterBrownBND

Don't forget to tune in at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13!
