A celebratory hike up Mount Meeker on June 30th led to tragedy for 38 year-old Brian Perri. In the early stages of his disappearance, Rocky Mountain National Park Rangers and friends of Perri searched most of the terrain surrounding the summit in hopes of finding him alive. After a few weeks, it was a search to just find him.

This past Saturday, a park ranger found his body on the southwest side of the summit at the base of a steep and nearly vertical drop off. In a new release, park officials said with "the steep terrain, angle, sheer size of the rocks and boulders as well as the coloring of his tan and green clothing made it extremely difficult to see him".

According to the Coloradoan, Perri's body was flown out of the park on Tuesday and is now at the Boulder County Coroner's Office where they will confirm identification and the cause and date of death. In Rocky Mountain National Park new release, park officials believe that with the terrain and the 25-40 foot fall, Perri died instantly.

Perri was a graduate student at CSU and had just completed his master's thesis.
