It's not often that you see a player from the University of Wyoming football team be projected as the #1 overall draft pick, but that could change in 2018.

According to Bleacher Report, quarterback Josh Allen (entering his junior year) could be the #1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft if it was held today.

Of course, there are many things that could happen that would change the course of NFL Draft a year from now, but there's no problem in dreaming that the top pick could be in our very own backyard.

Allen finished the 2016 campaign with 3203 yards passing, with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Some insiders around the NFL have even gone out of their way to compare Allen to Broncos great John Elway. While there still remains an entire season to see if the UW quarterback can come close to the Denver GM, it still has to be a great feeling that he is getting this much attention.

Experts even stated that if he had entered the 2017 NFL Draft, Allen had the chance of being the first quarterback taken this year as well.

The University of Wyoming opens up their 2017 campaign against the Iowa Hawkeyes on September 2nd. That game will be played in Iowa City, giving the young quarterback his first challenge early on.
