Dan and Michelle Benavidez are on their way to Illinois.  No big deal!  People travel all the time right? Well Dan and Michelle are walking to Illinois; over 1000 miles in fact and will be coming through Loveland this Saturday and I can only hope they get half the response here in Northern Colorado that they got at the sendoff!

After a very moving ceremony on base  at Fort Carson this past Saturday, Dan and Michelle began their walk North along Nelson Blvd. from the parade field to Gate 1 as they started their journey to the Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall in Marseilles, Illinois to honor of their son Sgt. Kennith Maynes who was KIA in Iraq on September 4th, 2008 after serving two tours of duty.

Dan and Michelle will be making their way into Loveland this coming Saturday and it is my hope we can get as many people out to welcome them as humanly possible.  The event will be taking place at the Promenade Shops at Centerra starting at 1pm and includes live music with Kory Brunson.  There will also be all kinds of military vehicles and personnel and fun for the entire family so please bring everyone you know for this very special event for some very special Coloradoans.

If you ride a motorcycle you are also invited to be a part of the official escort to Centerra.  All riders are asked to meet at the Mexican Inn [804 S Lincoln Ave] in South Loveland no later than 11:30 for a 12:00PM departure. I will be there and hope to see everyone one of my friends on two wheels that doesn't have to work.  I will be doing a live broadcast at the staging area at 11am and at Centerra as well starting at 1pm after the escort.

The Benavidez family is hoping to raise awareness and funds for American Military Family, a support organization that helped them deal with the death of their son.

See you Saturday!
