While visiting Colorado, an unidentified traveler, who originated from Michigan, contracted the plague and is being treated. Health officials are not releasing where in Colorado the person contracted the disease, however, according to the Coloradoan, there is no cause for alarm in this case.

Like Taylor Gaes, the Poudre High School student who died in June, it's believed that this victim also contracted the plague by ways of flea-bite. The main difference is that Gaes contracted the septicemic plague, while this new victim contracted the bubonic plague. If caught early, the bubonic plague can be treated, and is not as contagious as the pneumonic plague, that can be passed between humans, due to it's infecting the lungs.
