Traffic will switch on I-25 at the Crossroads Boulevard exit for the demolition and replacement of the interstate's northbound bridge.

According to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation, the new traffic alignment will involve moving northbound traffic onto the current southbound lanes during nighttime hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) beginning Monday, January 23, while southbound traffic will move to a temporary bridge on the west side of the interstate.

This alignment will occur until the northbound bridge is removed and replaced, which is expected to wrap up this summer. Once that's done, both northbound and southbound traffic will shift to the new northbound bridge while the southbound bridge is removed and replaced.

CDOT notes that there will be various lane closures in both northbound and southbound directions of the interstate from Monday, January 23 to Thursday, January 26. If a ramp is closed, motorists are instructed to use Highway 34 (exit 257) or East County Road 32 (exit 262) to make their way around the project.

Project Engineer Jim Hoffman assures us that although two 500-ton bridges will be moved and replaced, travelers will be "minimally impacted" by the alignment.
