With new (ahem) career choices opening up in Colorado the past few years, it's interesting to read that teen marijuana use has dramatically decreased.  So, while the rest of the world might assume we'll all grow up and run dispensaries - not that there's a thing wrong with that - we're seeing focuses in other directions.

This speaks volumes for the future of internet entertainment, and advertising - not to mention the possibility of any one of us becoming a star just because we were "in our zone" for a moment and were "rolling tape" at the time!

When asked what they want to be when they grow up, more kids answered "YouTube Star" than any other vocation.  Would you have even guessed that would be on the list?

Here's the full top 12 . . .

1.  YouTube star, 34%.

2.  Blogger or vlogger, 18%.

3.  Musician or singer, 16%.

4.  Actor, 16%.

5.  Filmmaker, 14%.

6.  Doctor or nurse, 13%.

7.  TV host, 12%.

8.  Athlete, 12%.

9.  Teacher, 12%.

10.  Writer, 8%.

11.  Lawyer, 6%.

12.  Model, 4%.

(The percentages add up to more than 100% because kids could give more than one answer.)

It sounds to me like young people are in touch with where the world is going and what is needed right now!  Do you agree?

Anyway, I love paying attention to Millennials, as it's really the first full generation who, for the most part, wasn't exposed to a society based on rebellion, unlike their baby boomer elders to whom, largely, life was all about feeling good first and worrying about the rest later.  Oh sure, call today's kids "soft."  I see a whole lot of people who care about making a difference in our world.  I'm looking forward to seeing the next generation of adults.  I think we seriously need these people.

Sometime I'll break out one of the pictures of myself playing with records when I was two.  While the merits of making radio a person's career are debatable, it's amazing to have it be how I start my day, and I hope you're enjoying the ride each morning!
