My wife and I spent a couple evenings looking at Christmas lights in Fort Collins. A few of our old favorites don't put up lighting displays anymore. I get it. It's a lot of work, but I am grateful to those who do.  I think the lights bring a lot of joy to a lot of people every holiday season.  Here are my "Top 5 Christmas Lights Displays in Fort Collins.

5.  Horsetooth & Ziegler Residence

This is the most impressive private home display I found in Fort Collins. Every year dozens of inflatables are set between two homes at 3220 and 3226 Michelle Lane south of Horsetooth off Ziegler in Fort Collins. They have a Santa on a motorcycle, a penguin on an igloo, an inflatable camping trailer, a number of blow up snowmen and thousands of lights. You can drive by from Thanksgiving through the 1st week of January from 5 to 11 pm.

2. Woodward

The lights at Woodward, on Drake between Stover and Lemay, have been a Christmas tradition for my family for as long as I have lived in Fort Collins. We celebrated the engagement of our friends, one year, at the giant Christmas tree. When you go: Tune your radio to 92.7 turn off your lights and drive through. You can see the nativity scene pictured below, a beautiful little church, carolers and Santa's workshop, while listening to Christmas music.  It's open 6-10 pm through the month of December.

3. Brewery Lights at Anheuser-Busch

Brewery Lights at the Anheuser-Busch brewery is a new favorite of mine. There is a lit Christmas tree maze, roasting of s'mores at the fire pits, hot chocolate, a holiday buffet, and fun for the whole family. The lights are illuminated from the last couple weeks of November through January 3 at the Anheuser-Busch Tour Center and Biergarten. Hours are from dusk until 10 pm.

2.  Downtown Fort Collins

Downtown Fort Collins is magical during the holidays. Thousands of strands of  lights brighten Old Town every Christmas  season. Trees are lit along Walnut Ave., Linden St., Pine St., Old Town Square, Oak Street Plaza, Mountain Ave and College Ave. The lights are twinkling in historic downtown through Valentine's Day.

1.  Garden of Lights at the Gardens on Spring Creek

This is, by far, the most impressive holiday lighting display you will find in Fort Collins. They use colors I didn't even  know existed to create the Garden of Lights at the Gardens on Spring Creek. An entire pond is lit, including the fish, hundreds of flowers in every every color imaginable, even a corn field. This one is worth the trip from anywhere in Northern Colorado. The Garden of Lights is open from 5-9 pm, December 4th-January 4th at the Gardens on Spring Creek at 2145 Centre Avenue.

Honorable Mention - Lights for Habitat

Lights for Habitat is 50 thousand lights synced to music at a private residence at 321 Albion Way in Fort Collins. They accept donations, which are given to Habitat for Humanity. When you get to the house, tune your radio to 89.1 and watch the lights dance to the music. There is a donation mailbox near the driveway.
