It was on this date in 1973 that the Paris Peace Accords, that was intended to put an end to the Vietnam War, was signed. It would be a couple more years before it was really all over but this was to be the end. This was the first military conflict that I was familiar with while growing up. I was too young to know much of the Korean War and all the others that I had yet to study in history class. The Vietnam War was something everyone my age knew about though. We all had family members and friends who were there. We all felt it.

We all also know of the unrest in our nation at the time and we know that there was a great disservice to those who served our country in that war. I know there are many who served who never felt the love and gratification from our nation that they should have. Many came home broken and many never came home at all. We owe a huge debt of gratitude and long overdue 'thank you' to all who served in Vietnam. Join me today in making an extra effort to thank those who served. If you see someone with a 'Vietnam Veteran' hat on or some other indication of their service, please do something to make them feel your gratitude today. It is the least we can do. To each and every person who served this country in Vietnam I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Welcome home, we love you and we are so proud of you. God bless our veterans.
