Today is a very important day in our history. It was on this day in 1944 that American military forces hit the beaches of Normandy in one of the most noted battles in our military history. We have seen the scenes over and over throughout the years in movies like 'Saving Private Ryan' but I can't imagine what it looked like in person to these amazing heroes.

Nearly 73,000 American soldiers hit the beach that day and about 2,500 of our men were killed. It is one of the most famous battles in our military history. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our soldiers who were willing to give their last breath for the red, white and blue today. We should salute them not just on Veteran's Day or Memorial Day or the Fourth of July, these folks deserve our gratitude each and every day of our lives.

Unfortunately we are losing about 600 of our WWII vets every day and we must honor them while we can. That is why Charley Barnes and Mike Neuerburg are out riding their motorcycles 10,000 miles in 10 days, to raise money for Honor Flight Northern Colorado to send our vets to their monuments in Washington DC, while there is still time. Today would be a great day to pledge some miles to show your support the 'Greatest Generation'.

We will never forget what was done for us 72 years ago today on the beaches of France. Thank you.
