Thompson School Board to Limit Audience at Meetings

The Thompson School District has decided to cap its school board meetings at about 260 audience members. It will be a first-come, first-served method.

“There’s no plan to have a venue change,” board president Bob Kerrigan said Monday. “I welcome everybody, but I believe this is the place we need to conduct our business. People don’t just pack up and move to different venues.”

The district will now permit just 150 people in the boardroom, plus 109 people between two overflow spaces. The choice appears largely motivated by the fact that other sites would not allow the district to televise its meetings.
