New Years, a time for ringing in 2016 and depending on if your 2015 was a good year or not, celebrating the year or trying to forget it.

Whatever you were celebrating, it is never a good idea to drink and drive. The proof is in the amount of arrests made over the New Year weekend. Law enforcement all over the state made an effort to crack down on drunk drivers over that weekend with the Heat is On campaign. The campaign started on December 30th and went through January 4th. This campaign resulted in 396 arrests across the state.

Colorado State Patrol Chief Col. Scott Hernandez stated in a news release " We want everyone to know that driving impaired is not worth the risks in any circumstance, and the 396 arrests indicate far too many people are driving impaired."

The 12 The Heat is On Campaigns in 2015 resulted in 7,376 DUI arrests in the state of Colorado. The last campaign of 2015 showed a 13 percent increase from 2014.
