This Berthoud Reservoir to Close to the Public in 2018
Last year, I got to go carp fishing for the first time! It was so much fun, I didn’t get to shoot anything because I suck. However, it was a fun experience puttering around on an inflatable boat on a summer’s day! Sadly, those of us who like to go to Lonetree Reservoir in Berthoud will no longer get to enjoy the lake.
According to the Reporter Herald, Lonetree Reservoir will close to the public in 2018. The outdoor recreational area has been there since the 1970’s and has been managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The 20 year lease expired last summer with the state and has been has been outbid by an unnamed private company. A new golf course is currently being built Heron Lakes area of Berthoud, which borders Lonetree Reservoir.
So, if you like fishing at Lonetree, make some time this summer to get out there as you will no longer be able to next summer.
