I think we can pinpoint the time when this world started to lose it's way and get a little more crazy. I believe it was when we all became too busy to gather at the supper table. I think the supper table is the key to a strong happy family and strong, happy, grounded, well adjusted, people. We seem to have lost our way since we got too busy to gather for a meal.

Supper time is still a big deal in our house. We eat dinner together nearly every single night and have always tried to do this. This is the time when you are able to actually talk to each other and hear what is going on in each others lives. We put down the phone and actually communicate. What a concept! Knowing what is going on with each other makes for better families and better people who then help make a better world. If people grow up knowing that they matter and people care about what they say and are doing, it makes them better adjusted. Susan has always said the world's problems could be solved if we could just get everyone arguing to sit down for some pie and coffee and talk it out. I tend to agree.

Let's get back to the supper table. Make a vow to gather your clan together at least a few nights a week and share a meal and you will feel your bond tighten. You won't be left out of the loop if you make an effort to stay in it. Being a family takes some work and we need to get back to work. Clock in at the supper table tonight and get to know each other again. Now pass the potatoes please.
