We tend to think of a penny as worthless but I learned yesterday how valuable a penny can be. My grandson Zander and I went to the grocery store yesterday to pick up a few items. As we were walking into the store a older gentleman who worked there greeted us and asked Zander if he was ready to do some shopping and be a good boy for me. Zander replied that he was. The man then asked him if he liked to ride ponies. Zander again replied that he sure did. The man then handed Zander 2 pennies and told him that if he was a good boy the whole time shopping that he could use those pennies to ride the pony at the checkout counter.

Zander clutched those pennies the whole time we shopped and was a perfect angel. When we got to the checkout he asked if he had been good enough to ride the pony. He was so excited to put his penny in the slot and ride like the wind.

It doesn't take much to make someones day and this wonderful man did it with just a penny and kindness. I cannot thank him enough. We all have the ability to make someones day with very little effort. Find your opportunity and take it. The world will be a better place if we all do this.
