If you know anything about country music you know that the Grand Ole Opry is like the Vatican of country music. It is the church of country. Every artist dreams of one day making it big enough to be asked to take that stage. It is even a bigger honor when you are asked to then be a member of the Opry. I have interviewed hundreds and hundreds of stars through my years here and every one of them talks about the emotion of the day they were asked to play the Grand Ole Opry.

It was on this date in 1989 that country's biggest star of all time was given that honor. Garth Brooks make his debut on that stage 26 years ago today. We all knew he was something special the minute we heard 'Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)' and we were right.

Here is a trip to Opry made a few years back joining his buddy Steve Wariner.
