A man by the name of John Billings has made every Grammy Award for over 30 plus years. To date, over 8,000 of the awards have been made.

Back in the 1980's Billings moved his operation from California to a tiny town, dubbed the gateway to the San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado named Ridgway. A small town that is 2 square miles, with an elevation of 6,900 ft and home to only 932 people.

Billings describes his work as a dying art. The awards start off a a mold made by plaster, then cast in a combination of aluminum, zinc and all made by hand.

Billings and his two apprentices will make 362 Grammy Awards this year in addition to the 230 Latin Grammys. Each Grammy takes about 15 hours each to make.
