What is a bike library anyway and it's free? I love this idea and many cities are catching on for many reasons and it's truly a win-win situation for everyone.

What has forty pairs of wheels, fresh paint and a new location? The City of Fort Collins Bike Library! The Bike Library opened up today for a new season so make sure you note the new location in the Downtown Transit Center at 250 Mason St.

  • Spring Hours (April 4-May 26) 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Summer Hours (May 27-September 1)  9 a.m.-1.p.m. [open till 3 Friday-Sunday]
  • Fall Hours (September 2-December 15) 9 a.m. to 1.p.m.

This is a great way to get out and get some exercise, park downtown and run your errands on a bike or commute to wherever. You can even reserve a bike to make sure there is one waiting for you when you need it.

Here is the cool part; IT'S FREE and the bikes have two wheels, brakes and even new paint! (That is sarcasm - they are basically new bikes.) Just bring your ID and a credit card for the initial sign-up.Then you are welcome to borrow a bike, helmet and lock for the day for FREE and if you want to keep the bike longer, it's only $10 per day!
