When we got started here at K99 in the late 80's, country was going through some big changes. We were being invaded by a new batch of young country stars. We were introduced to people like Clint Black, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. The face of country was changing and a tall blond man from Newnan, Georgia was leading the charge with a cool traditional country sound that was catching fire. Alan Jackson released his first single "Blue Blooded Woman" in 1989 and it just missed cracking the top 40 but his follow up to that "Here In The Real World" began what has now been over 2 decades of chart success.

I have always admired Alan for who he is and for staying true to his kind of music. He has never strayed from being Alan Jackson. I cannot tell you how hard it was to pick just 5 Alan tunes for this blog. Alan has had dozens and dozens of smash hits and has firmly etched his place in country music history and will be in the Country Hall of Fame one day without a doubt. Happy Birthday Alan, here are my 5 favorite tunes you have done.
