Survivor has been one of my favorite shows since it started back in 2000.  Last night was the season premiere of Survivor Caramoan Fans vs Favorites. It make me start thinking, "What is my favorite reality show?".  I know Brian's favorite is "Duck Dynasty".  I have never seen it, so it didn't make my list. These are, in my opinion the 5 best reality shows on TV:

5. Pawn Stars

Brian Gary turned me on to Pawn Stars. It's a show on the History Network about a family who owns a pawn shop in Fort Collins.  My favorite part of the show is seeing all of the historical items that are brought into the store. It really is amazing what people have to sell.  As the owner Rick says before every show, "I'm Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my Old Man and my son, "Big Hoss." Everything in here has a story - and a price. One thing I've learned after 21 years: You never know what is gonna come through that door."

4. American Pickers

American Pickers is another show on the History Channel that I love.  It stars two buddies Frank and Mike who travel around the country in a van looking for old junk they can sell in their antique store in Iowa that is run by an attractive tattooed young lady named Danielle. It's always fun to see what they find and how they wheel and deal to get what they want.

3. The Biggest Loser

My wife and I are both addicted to The Biggest Loser on NBC. I don't know what it is about fat people losing weight, but I love it.  Maybe it's because I'm a big guy.  The show is inspirational.  It's emotional! I cry watching more episodes than not.  I love the competition.  I like the trainers Jillian and Bob and love the host Alison Sweeney, who is probably best known for her role on "Days of Our Lives". Sometimes I secretly wish I was fat enough to be on the show.

2. The Bachelor

The Bachelor is my secret pleasure, that's really not so secret. I've lost my Guy Card a number of times for crying during the show, but I think that is a little unfair.  What is unmanly about watching a show where there is one dude and 25 beautiful women. I would say that is just the opposite of a Guy Card violation.  My wife and I watch the show together. We love the catch phrases like, "Who will be sent home broken-hearted?" We also like yelling at the TV, "Can't you see what at B_____ she is?

1. Survivor

I guess you always remember your first love, and that is Survivor.  I watched the 1st episode of the season for Survivor Caramoan Fans vs Favorites last night on CBS and I am just as hooked now as I was when started the reality show phenomenon over a decade ago.  There was time when Survivor ruled the ratings. Then another reality show called American Idol came along.  I love the competition. I love the confrontations.  I don't mind seeing girls in tropical locations running around in bikinis, but don' tell my wife. There's no doubt. It's still my favorite.  Tell us your favorite.  Give us a top 5 list if you would like.
