I woke up to very sad news this morning. I read in a report from a Texas news channel and from Univision that Tejano legend Emilio died of a heart attack Monday at the age of 53. Emilio is going to be greatly missed.

Emilio was a legend in the Tejano music scene and had a string of hits on the country charts in the mid 1990's. I must have played his album "Life is Good" a few thousand times in my lifetime. I know every word to every song on that disc. It was one of my favorites of the 90's. Emilio had a smile that could light up a stadium and was a true entertainer in every sense of the word.

It is rather ironic that we were just talking about Emilio the other day when his son Diego and his band The Last Bandoleros came by the studio and blew us away.

They are going to be huge and it is a shame that Emilio will not be around to see all the success his son will have. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Diego and the entire Navaira family. Thank you for the music Emilio. We will never forget the joy the you brought.

Here is the debut video from Diego's band The Last Bandoleros.
