Taylor Swift Writes Song About the Kennedys

Heartbreak, love and relationships are not the only subjects that Taylor Swift can write a song about. The singer has apparently penned a tune about America’s first political family: the Kennedys. Really? Really.

Swift has been seen hobnobbing with Rory Kennedy, daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, at Sundance. Swift accompanied her to the festival’s red carpet premiere of ‘Ethel,’ the HBO documentary about one of the Kennedy matriarchs, who is also Rory’s mother.

Rory Kennedy spoke to ABC News Now about the genesis of her friendship with Swift, revealing that the ‘Ours’ singer actually wrote a song about the Kennedy family — and that Swift had done her homework about the Kennedys, too. That impressed her enough to extend an invite to the singer for the documentary premiere.

“She really just loves my mother, which is so sweet,” Kennedy said about Swift, who is considered the poet laureate for the teen set. “I’m a huge fan of hers. I have young girls, and we had been to a few of her concerts. I met with her at one of them, and she had read a ton of books about our family. She was inspired and wrote a song.”

Upon learning that Swift had read up on the family and composed a song, Rory then invited her the film’s bow.

Kennedy admitted that despite this newfound friendship, there is one thing her family does not have in common with Swift — and that”s musical ability. She said, “We are actually terrible, terrible singers, but we love to sing.” Perhaps Taylor Swift can become an honorary Kennedy and teach them how to sing? Maybe she can date one of the family’s eligible bachelors, too!
