Tornado

Several tornadoes blew through the Front Range Monday afternoon, including one in Weld County. We have video of a twister near Fort Lupton.

Around 2 pm Wednesday afternoon, a funnel cloud developed west of Cheyenne, just north of I-80. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning which expired before 2:30 pm.

Yesterday twin twisters ripped through the town of Pilger, Nebraska. Our thoughts go out to all of those in the area. One 5 year old child died in the incident and 16 were in critically injured.

Over the last few days we here in Colorado have been reminded in a hurry that it's tornado season with watches warnings, and even touch downs near us. Although we aren't in the Kansas, Oklahoma "Tornado Alley" area, Colorado is still very prone to produce a twister or two this time of year.

Update 6 p.m. Friday, June 6: We just received word from the Weld County Sheriff's Office that a total of two tornadoes touched down in Weld County this afternoon.

Tomorrow, May 22nd, will mark six years since the day the small town of Windsor, Colorado and the people who live and work in the area, like myself, will never forget. It was the first time Weld County had seen an f3 tornado since 1950, and it's 130 to 150 mile per hour winds ripped a portion of the town apart.

The 1st severe weather of the spring hit Northern Colorado yesterday. A tornado was spotted near Platteville around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

When a devastating tornado ravaged Moore, Okla. in May, country superstar Toby Keith jumped headfirst into efforts to help his hometown. He's still not finished, as the singer recently lent his voice to narrate the documentary, 'OKC Thunder: Heart of the City.'

At approximately 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 3rd the National Weather Service began issuing statements warning Northern Colorado residents that severe storms and tornadoes were on their way. This time the projections were right on.

Blake Shelton sure has a lot to be proud of. The Oklahoma native spearheaded a concert on Wednesday night (May 29) to benefit the victims of the tornado that swept through Moore, Okla. on May 20, raising millions for the cause.

It warms my heart when people put a lot of hard work into helping others, so I was blown away when I found out this 'Stuffed With Love' project was being put together by a 15-year-old girl here in Timnath. She has put together a drive to collect stuffed animals and notes of support for children affected by the horrendous Oklahoma tornadoes and will personally deliver them. She just needs your help for stuffed toys, notes of support, and cash donations. So please, get a stuffed animal, tie a green ribbon on it, write some kind words for a kid who's like was turned upside down, and drop it by Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson this Saturday from 8AM-1PM.
