I wrote a story back in March (Read the story here) about Mississippi allowing public prayer back into their schools. The story did OK as far as the "numbers" go but it went viral this week after a blogger got a hold of it and ripped it to shreds.
The faces of fellow football players and friends of my Ashley and Colton told a story without words; A story of loss and longing and love. A small group of us gathered as the bench was brought out and placed by the athletic doors of RMHS.
I have been a parent in the Poudre School District for many years and can only softly remember once before hearing of a school closure the day before. (I did the math and it made me sound really really old, so I decided to stick with 'MANY' years)
As a young child I remember very vividly reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and also morning prayer. When you talk about the "good old days" those are visions that come to my mind. Of course those are things that have been taken away but Mississippi has decided otherwise.
You remember those little green army guys we all played with as kids? The ones we all looked up to and wanted to be someday. Has our 'political correctness' really come this far? You won't believe this story...
Who hasn't thunk it? One thing we are raised knowing is how to not spread germs so what better way than to blow out birthday candles and share the joy. Australia today announced they now have a solution for this rampant problem.
As a mother the thought of guns in our schools scares me, period. Whether the gun totter is a trained teacher or a deranged psychopath. But with today's news of another rampage, my mind may be getting a bit more open to the idea.
