Here is a story that I would have never known about had it not been for Ron Bland and Facebook. It's a story of a real hero. A man braver than anyone I know and sacrificed himself over and over for total strangers. Vietnam...a story that never ends.

Sadly, I don't see enough red on Friday's. Not the bad kind of red as in "I am seeing red today," but rather a good red. A red to remind us, and to show support, to those who are sacrificing themselves for our freedom.

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that two U.S. servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and are being returned to their families for burial with full military honors.

Wednesday marks the 12th anniversary of the worst act of terrorism on U.S. soil. There is also controversy broiling in Washington D.C. on groups participating in marches on the city, namely, the Muslin March and the '2 Million Bikers To D.C.' event. One was granted a permit and one was not.

How quickly the tables can turn.

I wrote a story back in May about a former Army tank gunner named Jeff Barillaro (read the original here.) Today, Jeff saw the story and made mention of it on his page. In honor of his continuing pursuit to find an answer to the staggering military suicide rate, I wanted to put his story and video, which you can see below, back out in the front of things.

Today marks the 68th anniversary of the atomic bomb that was dropped over Hiroshima, Japan killing over 140,000 men, women and children. Three days later we would drop another one prompting Japan's surrender on 15 August 1945.

Legislation can be good. Take for example “Purple Heart Recognition Day” on August 7th. This is a 'working holiday' dedicated to remembering and recognizing those members of the Armed Forces of the United States who have earned the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in combat.

It was on Sunday, the 7th of October, 2001. Shells began to rain down in the Middle East as we began our war on terror with Operation Enduring Freedom; originally called Operation Infinite Justice. President Bush warned us it would be a long process but hasn't it been long enough?

When it comes to parenting, some get it and others not so much. It's easy to tell when you run into kids who have parents in their lives who care, it shows. When you see young kids standing at attention, in the middle of playtime, you know the parents. are doing it right
