Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies were involved in a shooting yesterday in Glacier view that left one man dead. The incident happened in the 100 block of Guardian Peak Drive in Glacier View at 11:50 last night (Friday, October 19th).
Larimer County Commissioners rescinded the ban on ‘Contained’ fires yesterday and continued the restrictions on Open Fires and the Use of Fireworks for the unincorporated areas of Larimer County. The restrictions mean that the public can now have fires in areas with permanent fire structures such as campgrounds. Due to extremely dry conditions in Northern Colorado and the High Park Fire burning west of Fort Collins, Larimer County Commissioners have added additional Fire restrictions. The new restrictions include Open Fires, Contained Open Fires and the Sale and Use of Fireworks and Public Fireworks Displays for the unincorporated areas of Larimer County through September 30, 2012.

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith has been in the news a lot lately. The High Park Fire west of Fort Collins has put him front and center with the media. The updates that we provide you at K99.com come directly from the Sheriff's office. I requested Sheriff Smith as a friend on Facebook yesterday, and he sent me the following message to share with K99 listeners:
Thankfully the Stuart Hole Fire northwest of Fort Collins didn't grow much overnight. At 9:30 this morning, the Larimer County Sheriff's Department reported that the fire is still about 200 acres and is still 0% contained. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
If you are wondering about that smoke west of Fort Collins over the weekend, about 1 ½ acres burned near Davis Ranch Road and Rist Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department reported that a shed or barn and a trailer were destroyed in the blaze and nobody was injured. Thanks to the Poudre Fire Authority and Rist Canyon Fire, the blaze is now 100% contained.
