Another week and another soul lost to a senseless war since last Monday's post. Freedom isn't free at all; someone has to pay for it. Please make it a point this week to go out of your way and thank a soldier. It's a good habit to get into!

We have lost two more soldiers since last Monday's post. One of the saddest stories is the death of Sgt. Cable as he was stabbed in the neck by an Afghan teen as Sgt. Cable played with some local children. There is no word on the condition of the Afghan teenager. Freedom isn't free at all; someone has to pay for it. Please make it a point this week to go out of your way and thank a soldier. It's a good habit to get into!

It was the deadliest week for American soldiers in about a year as we lost a total of 10 since last Monday's post. Please keep these brave warriors and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

I personally think there is nothing more beautiful than our American Flag at Sunset and to make that even more special, it's always nice to let you know that another week has gone by and we have no one Killed In Action to report. How do you top news like that?

We have sadly lost another Marine, Staff Sgt. Jonathan D. Davis, who gave his life last Friday the 22nd. I do believe though that we are seeing an end to our part in the war as it seems the Afghan Military is starting to do more of their part which translates to less American casualties. January 2013 there were 3 deaths compared to 26 in 2012 and February 2012 we saw 18 'Killed In Action."

Happy Presidents Day everyone! Normally I would never associate the word "happy" on this Monday post but for the third straight week, in years, we have not lost one single soldier. 0 is a number I can totally get behind. On a different note, the Department of Defense has announced a new medal that has been created.

I wanted to share a story with you all that touched me greatly the last few days. Have you ever had tears stream down your face for someone you have never met? It's a humbling feeling and I'm not sure why, but I always have this feeling of "survivors remorse" when thinking about all those before me who have died to give me the liberty and freedom I have.
