K99 Tragedy

It has been a difficult week for D Dennison. This week marked the two-year death anniversary of her two youngest children. They were killed in a head-on collision with a semitrailer hauling a full load of frac sand in North Dakota.

It's a tribute to honor those who came, touched our hearts and had to move on. A happy time of gathering with others, other families, friends and neighbors. Although it is very touching and can have moments of sadness, I say happy because it's just a night to remember together some of the greatest parts of us. To be surrounded by love and understanding.

I went into the day with no expectations, it was to be a day, good or bad I was ready to take it head on.

I am sorry that I was not with you Monday May 6, 2013. I thought that I could do it, be strong and triumphant and I couldn't; it would have been Colton's 17th birthday.

I extend a warm welcome to you to join in a great cause to help the community and get a great meal at the same time. A lot of people have asked if I will be there, I do plan to be there for dinner tonight around 6 (give or take), I would love it for you to join me and if you can't come then, please just participate. Thank you!

In life, Ashley and Colton were go-getters. It took a lot to bring them down, but they always bounced back quickly, for there was always as smile they had to help someone find. They were fighters for happiness. And now from the gates of Heaven are reaching out to help yet again.

I may get trapped in self pity and sadness since my Ashley and Colton were taken from me too soon and unexpectedly, but I do have many blessing's in my life.

I am thankful to be a part of such a great community. My Ashley and Colton went on to ready a place in Heaven for us 5 months ago this week and the Rocky football family continues to amaze us by remembering not just our Gentle Giant but our Princess as well.

My life took a 360 degree turn a few months ago and I can't figure out what to do for Thanksgiving... Help me! What are you doing?

The Child Advocacy Center has been a friend of K99 for years, they have become an extended part of our radio family. My daughter recognized their power in the community and fought for her peers in high school to know more about this vital entity.

It has been a rough past week for all of us here at K99 as we reflect back on the tragic events that claimed the lives of two of D Dennison's kids, Colton and Ashley Fischer. Yesterday we joined D to remember their lives and the joy that they brought to all of ours, but we also want to give everyone a chance to help in such a tough situation as we have received numerous requests...

When a child is tragically taken from this earth it is not only the family that suffers but the whole community. The classmates and friends of the person hurt too and need to talk about it. Tonight Rocky Mountain High School will offer the students and their families an opportunity to gather at Olander Elementary School, 3401 Auntie Stone Street in Fort Collins and remember Colton and Ashley Fisch
