Some progress is being made on the High Park Fire. It is now at 43,372 acres and 10% contained.  The evacuation area south of County Road 38E from Gindler Ranch Road west to Milner Ranch Road was lifted yesterday. However, new evacuations were ordered yesterday.

The High Park Fire is now at least 45,000 with only 5% containment but the incident commander said earlier today that this fire could burn into the Fall season.  Last update on acreage was at 10:30 this morning and it was at 43,433 acres.

Starting in 1935, wildfire policy was "all fires out by 10 A.M." This policy was instituted and evolved out of a totally out of control wildfire called "The Big Blowup," that swept the Northern Rockies in 1910. 5 million acres burned and killed 78 firefighters {87 in all} during this catastrophic event which took place in just two days believe it or not.

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith says Human remains have been found in the burned home of a person reported missing after the start of the massive High Park Fire west of Fort Collins. The remains are believed to be those of 62-year-old Linda Steadman. The High Park Fire is currently at 43,433 acres with some containment.
