Despite a Very Dry March; Spring Has Sprung in Fort Collins [PICTURES]
This is one of the driest months of March Colorado has ever seen, but that hasn't stopped Spring from arriving. I started to notice yesterday morning when I left the Teacher Tuesday in Welling ton. The trees are budding. The flowers are blooming. Spring is here! I was inspired to search for signs of spring in Fort Collins. My wife Jenny and I captured a few images.

Shed & Trailer Destroyed in Fire West of Fort Collins
If you are wondering about that smoke west of Fort Collins over the weekend, about 1 ½ acres burned near Davis Ranch Road and Rist Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department reported that a shed or barn and a trailer were destroyed in the blaze and nobody was injured. Thanks to the Poudre Fire Authority and Rist Canyon Fire, the blaze is now 100% contained.

My wife and I are lifetime members of the Midtown Arts Center in Fort Collins. That means we get to see every show that is presented by the former Carousel Dinner Theatre. Last night was a treat. We saw the delightfully naughty production of "Avenue Q". It's kind of like the Muppets, only with lots of cussing, controversial topics, and yes......sex.

Fort Collins American Idol Contestant Sent Home [VIDEO]
The American Idol contestant you heard sing on K99 last week did not advance to the next round in the competition on Fox. Fort Collins resident Lindsey Cartier made it to Hollywood Week, Unfortunately she was sent home this week and will not be in finals. We are all very proud of Lindsey for representing Northern Colorado so well.

Smoke might be visible west of Fort Collins on Thursday, near Horsetooth Mountain. The Larimer County Natural Resources Department, and the Emergency Services Department, will burn slash piles at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space on Thursday, February 16.
New Initiative Could Bring Super-Fast High-Speed Internet to CSU, Fort Collins
Fort Collins and CSU could soon be on the super-fast information highway. A new national initiative called Gig. U is working to bring super high-speed internet to communities with the goal of increasing economic development and keeping the U.S. competitive in a global economy. Colorado State University is one of 37 universities that could be getting a super-fast network, sponsored by the Aspen Institute.

The City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Division is planning a prescribed burn this Thursday and Friday (Jan. 26th and 27th) in the Bobcat Ridge Natural Area west of Fort Collins. Smoke might be visible in the Fort Collins and Loveland area during the burn.
