We know the K99 listeners and we know you want to help! The Crystal Fire Relief Fund has been created to benefit people most impacted by the recent wildfire. The fire burned over 2,900 acres and destroyed 13 homes and numerous vehicles and outbuildings.

Crystal Fire 100% Contained

Larimer County Emergency Information is reporting that the Crystal Fire that was burning west of Fort Collins is now 100% contained. Fire investigators continue to determine a cause.

Residents that left their homes last night as part of the precautionary evacuation were allowed to return to their homes this morning at 10:00 a.m. Although roads are open to residents the current roadblocks will continue to operate for the foreseeable future according to Larimer County officials.

Just days into the Crystal fire and we are reminded of how quickly fire can tear through fields, homes and communities. In a time when there has been so much lost, we are grateful to report that our neighbors have survived with their lives. The fierce fire has claimed over four thousand acres and has taken 15 homes along with numerous outbuildings, RV’s and boats.

According to the Coloradoan eyewitnesses said the fire burned hot enough to melt metal. Reporters were allowed limited access to the affected area earlier this week, learn more about their site tour at www.coloradoan.com.
