The human being is an amazing creature no matter how you slice it up. I wrote a story last week (Click here to read it) about a little boy who was trying to replace a police department patch collection he had that honored his fallen uncle who was a police officer. Mother Nature would have other plans as his collection was destroyed in their family home, along with 500 others in the Black Forest Fire outside Colorado Springs. What has happened since that story is one of the most amazing things I have seen in a long time.
The Black Forest Fire has done more damage in a week then we care to think about but when a fire destroys a home, the actual home is the last thing on someone's mind. Many things can be replaced, some can't and some need help replacing memories and futures.
I've been a bartender for almost 14 years and the two universal topics you DON'T talk about at a bar are religion and politics. So, with that said, I was never much of a political person. If I couldn't discuss it at my bar, I didn't have much use for it
While I was doing my latest Facebook stalking of my friends and family I saw a set of pictures that captured the best of Colorado. Few believe us and many imitate us, but when we say "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes", we aren't lying.
I wrote a story earlier this week about the possibility of the Secret Service being authorized to arrest Sheriff's across the country if they fail to uphold new gun control laws. Just a few minutes ago, I received a very nice email from Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith who wants to clarify a few things.
There is a term for what is being talked about yet I can't think of it. Rumor has it though that the Federal government is laying the groundwork to let the Secret Service start arresting Sheriff's for not enforcing new gun control laws; starting with Colorado.
