Bullying is a huge problem. How many lives do we have to lose? How many people have to have their self-esteem shattered and feel like they cannot do another day before we open our eyes and ears? There is an epidemic going on all around us and we need to do something about it. We need to make a stand against bullying NOW!
Today is World Day of Bullying Prevention.This is a cause that is very close to my heart. I was that bully for much of my youth and am very ashamed of it. Over 850,000 teens stay home one day each month because of fears of bullying.
There is a point where hazing and messing around turns into something much worse. For those who don't think being bullied doesn't count, are dead wrong.
Bullying is a bad thing no matter how you slice it up but it's the term "bullying" that I think some may have an issue with. Getting beat down on a football field does not qualify, in my humble opinion.
You might think that a young kid who tackles a knife-wielding bully would be hailed as a hero, but you'd be wrong. In Calgary, a 13-year-old was officially reprimanded for defending a classmate who was being threatened by a thug with a weapon.
I have learned that someone has put up a Facebook page highlighting high school and college aged girls. I won't give you the page as I believe it to be a gross oversight by Facebook.
