It seems when things get stressful at work or home I cannot shut off my brain enough to sleep. I can nod off in the chair in the living room but if I try to go to bed I cannot sleep. If I am in the chair I can just naturally nod off due to exhaustion but as soon as I go to bed my mind starts thinking about the next day.

Friday night the 22nd of June the Greeley Stampede will kick off with a great show. Justin Moore and James Wesley will be tearing up the stage and you will not want to miss this one.

Remember the old George Jones song "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes"? I have wondered that so many times. Who is gonna fill those shoes? I have had many people in my career who I have considered my gurus in my industry. I have looked up to them and learned from them, leaned on them and relied on them. I have reached that point in my career where those people are now gone.

I have to get this off my chest. I think that the fact that a potential employer can check you credit rating before offering you a job is flat out criminal. More and more companies are doing this and it is keeping hard working people who need income from getting the jobs they need and deserve.

It is going to another scorcher today. We are expecting a high near 100 today. When the temps get that hot it is important that we make sure we are doing all we can to help us and our animals from overheating. Luckily I have perfected the art of remaining stationary and in front of an AC vent but others may need some more tips.

You know those tests they do on rats where they electrically charge a piece of cheese and see if the rats will keep trying to grab it even though they get shocked? I so often feel that is us. We all have done this or know of people who are doing it now. They do the same thing every day and expect different results.

Sunday is Father's Day. I want to tell you about the greatest dad in the world...mine. I have been so fortunate to have had the most wonderful example of what a man should be. I was not a good kid and gave my dad every reason in the world to give up on me but he never did. He has always been right there beside me.

Today is Flag Day. President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th as Flag Day back in 1949. Few things fill me with pride more than seeing the streets lined with the red, white and blue flying proud.

Is there wicked weather on the way next week? I have heard nothing from the meteorologists or other weather predictors but I have it heard it from Roscoe. When Windsor was hit by the tornado four years ago my friend Roscoe had told me weeks in advance that something big was going to happen on that day and he was right. I now rely on him for my extended forecasts.

Want to make someone's day? Want to get more productivity out of your staff? Want your kids to help out more? Tell them they are doing a good job. There are many ways to motivate people. Some people are motivated by money, some by the possibility of advancement or some other carrot but we all respond to praise.

In our lives we end up attending a lot of weddings and funerals. The one thing I find both of these have in common is that they can be way to impersonal. I think all weddings and funerals should speak volumes about who the people are or were.
