When I was a kid there was just one talent show on TV. It was "Star Search".  Now there are more than I can watch.  Country music has been represented over the years with shows like "Nashville Star" and "Can You Duet".   Blake Shelton is one of the judges on "The Voice". While it was widely reported that well-coiffed country star Keith Urban had accepted the offer to replace long-running judge Randy Jackson on ‘American Idol,’ new reports have surfaced indicating that the deal is not completed and has not been signed, and is therefore not finalized. Keith Urban already has experience as a reality show judge, having served as a coach on the Australian version of ‘The Voice.’ Now, Urban may be lured to a competing show’s lair, since sources are indicating that ‘American Idol’ producers would like a country star on the revamped panel and that Urban their No. 1 choice to fill that genre-specific slot.

Word has it that in an upcoming cover story for Inland Empire Weekly, the ‘Beers Ago’ singer dishes that he was asked to sit in the judges’ panel for the upcoming ‘Idol’ season, but he turned them down.

Lauren Alaina came thisclose to winning ‘American Idol‘ last season, but she didn’t need to the official title to launch a legitimate, more-than-respectable country career. She’s doing just fine as the runner-up, but she still returned to the show’s stage tonight (March 8, 2012) for a guest spot, performing her rowdy, rocking single ‘Georgia Peaches.’ My, how far she’s come in a year.

Carrie Underwood is getting ready to perform at the Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show, a sold-out event that will take place at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Feb. 28. The show, which will feature an exclusive presentation of Oscar de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, will also showcase a performance by Underwood. The American Idol contestant you heard sing on K99 last week did not advance to the next round in the competition on Fox. Fort Collins resident Lindsey Cartier made it to Hollywood Week, Unfortunately she was sent home this week and will not be in finals.  We  are all very proud of Lindsey for representing Northern Colorado so well.

Fort Collins resident Lindsey Cartier is an American Idol contestant.  She received a golden ticket from the Aspen auditions.  That means she got to go to Hollywood. Tonight and tomorrow is Hollywood week.  We had Lindsey on our show yesterday and she told us she saw herself in the promo, which makes her hopeful they will feature her on the show tonight.
