I grew up idolizing Elvis. I watched his movies and listened to his music for hours daily. No one had a bigger influence on my life, aside from my parents, than Elvis. I wanted to be just like him.

On this date in 1977 my young world was rocked. The king had died. I was only 11, but I was in shock. I remember the chair I was sitting in watching TV when David Brinkley broke the news. I cried for days.
