Albertsons grocery store in North Fort Collins is closing. Company officials announced  that they would close the store at 1636 N. College Ave. by Feb. 20th.

“We closely evaluate the performance of all of our stores throughout the year, and unfortunately, this location has been struggling for some time now,” Albertsons Intermountain Division President Susan Morris said in announcing the closure Friday. “Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to better position the store for future profitability, so we had to make the difficult decision to close it.”

A liquidation sale starts Jan. 29th.  The store was built in 1995, but had difficulty competing with the King Soopers after it opened across the street in May of 2011.
