You may have noticed flags at half-staff today. It’s because the governor ordered them to be lowered in memory of a firefighter who died of cancer last weekend (Aug 1, 2015).

Todd Johnson was a firefighter. He’d been a firefighter for 11 years in Summit County, most recently – nine years with Lake Dillon Fire.  Seven years ago, after a seizure during a softball game, Todd was diagnosed with cancer.  Last Saturday, Todd lost his battle with the disease at the age of 46.

This Sunday (August 9, 2015) at 10 a.m., a public life celebration event is set up at Red Rocks for folks to pay their respects to a fallen hero.

In the meantime, Governor Hickenlooper has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff for Friday (August 7, 2015).
