If you received Sports Authority coupons with your Bolder Boulder packet this weekend, good luck redeeming them.

According to Denver7, some runners have been denied discounts at Sports Authority using their coupons given to them for completing the Bolder Boulder on Monday.

"They gave us one for 15% off, 10% off, and another 15% off," said Stormy Griffith, whose coupons were rejected after he and his wife spent an hour shopping for their 3 daughters.

"We get up to the counter and the gals that are checking us out tell us they are not going to redeem these coupons here," he said, adding that they wouldn't take the coupons because the store is liquidating its stock.

Denver7 tested the same coupons at a different Sports Authority location and were given the same response.

The coupons do say they can't be used on clearance items, but Griffith believes the coupons shouldn't have been given out in the first place, even though Sports Authority sponsored the Bolder Boulder.

"You can't advertise something and not back it," he said. "They didn't even mark on their doors that they weren't honored."

Last week, it was announced all stores will be closed once liquidation sales are completed. Both Dick's Sporting Goods and Modell's have expressed interest in some of the locations, though no purchase has yet been made.
