NightLights Tree 2012

That big blue Christmas tree on College Avenue in Fort Collins was lit for the season at a ceremony over the weekend.  The 15th Annual NightLights Celebration was held at the First Presbyterian Church just south of Mulberry Avenue on Saturday night.

My wife and I were there to enjoy the hot chocolate, home-made cookies, and hot soup from Qdoba.  We especially enjoyed the A Capella group Forte 201 and the Centennial Children's Chorus.

The event was created by Realities for Children to help light up the night for abused, neglected, and at-risk children in Larimer County and raise money to ensure that no child is forgotten.  It's not too late to give.  You can sponsor a NightLight for $100 at GiveaNightLight.com.

Of course, the highlight of Saturday night was the lighting of the 50-foot NightLights tree. I shot the video with my iPhone so it is not professional quality, but it gives you an idea of what the tree lighting looked like. The video is courtesy of YouTube.

The A Capella group Forte 201 performed several numbers during the evening. This YouTube video is their version of the Christmas classic "Sleigh Ride".
