We are quickly falling out of summer... Yes, pun was totally intended there, and soon the snow will start to cover the ground. After living in areas that didn't get snow, I am looking forward to another Colorado winter. This year I will certainly be out and about taking in all of the winter festivities, including the snow sculpture competition in December. Previous years the snow sculpture competition has happened in Loveland. This year it will have a new home in Berthoud.

The Colorado State Snow Sculpting Competition was in the process of looking for a new home and the Berthoud Chamber of Commerce wanted to add a winter event to the town. It seems as if the match was meant to be.

"We have this beautiful park; it's gorgeous at Christmastime," said Deanne Mulvihill, executive director of the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce said in an article in the Reporter Herald.

Not only will there be an adult snow sculpting competition, there will also be a children's competition.

The snow sculpting competition will take place at Fickel Park December 14-17 and competitors can only use ice scrapers from a car. Since I live so close to Berthoud, this should be a really fun weekend event to spend some quality time with my wife! I am looking forward to seeing what kinds of sculptures will be there as well.
