Small Plane Crashes near Weld Airport
The pilot of a small airplane having engine problems crash-landed yesterday afternoon in a field a half mile east of the Greeley-Weld County Airport. The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza landed in the farm field just before 2:30 p.m. The pilot, Tim Pritchard of Longmont, was not injured and was standing by the plane when emergency personnel arrived. Pritchard said he noticed engine trouble just after takeoff, saw the field, and was able to land. There was only minor damage to the plane’s propeller and underside. Pritchard was the only person aboard.
