The CSU Forestry Service held their orientation today for those who are planning on helping to replant in the High Park Fire area this Spring.  Many were home/landowners, single individuals and even some on motorcycles showed up; crazy bikers.

The Sleigh Riders BOD (board of directors) met today at the CSU Forestry Service in Fort Collins for a very informative meeting and a private tour of their nursery.  It's amazing how many tree's they have growing and the different species that are native to this area that you take for granted.

After the tour we all met up at the top of Rist Canyon, off Ford Hill Rd., to get an actual hands on demonstration of exactly what the Sleigh Riders group will be doing on May 4th.  Over 50 of us broke off into small groups and got busy by planting a half dozen ourselves at the top of Rist Canyon and yes, it felt fantastic.

If you have signed up with the Sleigh Riders to help plant 2000 trees on May 4th remember these key things to bring just in case:

  • Work gloves
  • Safety glasses (riding glasses are fine)
  • Rain gear
  • Snacks
  • Liquid

The CSU Forestry Service will be providing everything we need to plant as far as tools so just bring things that will benefit you personally.

Everyone will meet either at Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson by 9:00 AM or at Nostalgic West Leather in Masonville at 10:00 AM.  (Drinks and donuts will be provided in Masonville.) Group ride leaves Masonville to the plant site at 10:30 AM and we should be done no later than 4:00 PM.
