Charley Barnes
Born in Alamagordo, NM – 1963 and haven’t been the same since, but, then neither is anyone who has ever dared get close to me.
I reside in Greeley and a single Dad of three awesome kids: My tribe consists of my daughter Taylor Anne -16, and two sons Mason William -14 and Cade Thomas -11. My children are the most important thing in my life and I just can’t get enough of them!
I have been with Townsquare Media, Inc. since 1998 starting with the Morning Show on TRI-102 for several years before taking on the afternoon show here at K99 which you can hear live or online between 3P and 7P weekdays.
I started in radio at KBZZ in La Junta CO at the tender age of 15 and have basically been doing it ever since. I have worked in Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Arizona, Montana and Alaska. Yes, I was in Alaska for about 6 years living in Juneau right out of High School and eventually moved to Fairbanks to attend the University of Alaska and working full-time radio at the same time and spending my summers living in Wasilla and working radio in Anchorage: “L.A. on Ice.”
As far as hobbies go, I enjoy being on 2-wheels everyday of the year. Anytime is a good time to ride! {I just custom painted my FLHTCUI Ultra Classic and have some pics uploaded.} I enjoy long road trips and camping off my bike, live music, long weekends with an open road and full tank of gas, friends, family and cool chilly cocktails on warm summer evenings! I love a good booming thunderstorm, lightning but hate slow drivers in the left lane, drivers who can’t keep up with the speed limit, spinach and snow!

As I was on my way to the Bud Center Friday night to do the crowd welcome it seems there was one person wanting to get there before me and was considerate enough to run me off the road in doing so. Well, in all honesty, it wasn't their stupidity that caused the accident but rather some plow driver in Larimer County who decided the turn lane was the one place in the county that didn't need plowed.

I got stuck on Youtube when I got to work and ran across some video's as I kept getting sidetracked and thought I'd share them with you as well. It's Friday and these are some feel good, toe tapping where's my beer fun tunes. The feature photo is of Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton who was featured in a 2007 documentary, Hillbilly: The Real Story, on The History Channel. In 2010, Hank Williams, Jr. announced a partnership (including Sutton's widow) to distill and distribute Sutton's whiskey legally for the first time. The man is a legend and the song by Brantley Gilbert, Hell on Wheels, is one of my favorites.

Fact of the matter is Team Topeka and others are out every single weekend regardless of weather and temperature and I can't tell you how that humbles me.
