Sgt. Birdwell Returns Home to Windsor

According to the Coloradoan the body of Staff Sgt. Christopher James Birdwell is in route to Windsor.

We have been told that Staff Sgt. Birdwell would leave the Fort Collins-Loveland airport, head to Crossroads Blvd, travel down 7th Street to Eastman Parkway. They will come to rest at Marks Funeral Home on Eastman Parkway Drive.

A memorial service for military, family and invited friends will be held Thursday at Fort Carson, while the funeral service for Birdwell will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Resurrection Church, 6502 E. Crossroads Blvd., Loveland. Birdwell will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

A memorial fund has been set up in Birdwell’s name, and donations can be made to the Bank of Colorado “Staff Sgt. Christopher Birdwell Memorial,” PO Box 939, Windsor, CO 80550.

Staff Sgt Birdwell was killed in combat last Monday in Afghanistan during his third tour of duty. He was a Windsor High School graduate.
