Sexually Violent Predator Released in Fort Collins

A man convicted of sexual assault resulting in serious bodily injury (among other charges) has been released from prison after 10 years and released in Larimer County.

According to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Garrett Lejeune was deemed a sexually violent predator after meeting the required criteria for the classification.

Lejeune recently moved to the LCSO jurisdiction after being released from the Larimer County Community Corrections facility. He was convicted of sexual assault overcoming a victim's will resulting in serious bodily injury, dangerous drugs, and second-degree assault on November 9, 2006, for the offense that occurred earlier that year.

In the case of sexually violent predators, law enforcement is required to notify citizens when they'll be released into the community under the Jacob Wetterling Act of 1994. The purpose of releasing this information is to enhance public safety and protection.

That said, vigilantism or use of this information to harass, threaten, or intimidate Lejeune or any other offender, offenders' families, or those notifying the public about the offender's release is criminal behavior and won't be tolerated.
